1) These Packing Cubes
We typically pack lightly when we travel so we share a suitcase. Having these packing cubes to keep our items separate in our luggage. This helps when we want something specific and have to open the luggage and viola! - our items aren’t spewing everywhere out of the luggage. What we like most about them is that they are the perfect size for what you need to pack. And what’s better than zipping our stinky shoes into a bag to prevent our clothes from smelling like them?
2) Microfiber Travel Towel
We have the XL size towels, which come with us every vacation. These towels have come in handy in many different ways on our vacations. On tropical vacations where we aren’t at a resort, they have been used for beach towels. They have been used as bath towels for camper van trips where they don’t provide linens. We have used them to “shower” during our backpacking trips. They also have been used to clean up spills on our vacations. I’m telling you, these towels have been through it all! We highly recommend them because of their size and weight. These towels (the XL size) weigh approximately 0.6 pounds and they fold smaller than a typical hand towel.
3) A Headlamp
We never usually travel without at least one headlamp unless we are just traveling home to visit family. This one has been our favorite by far for being versatile. We take them on our backpacking trips of course! They came with us on our night hike when we went to Costa Rica! When in Italy, they were useful for navigating to the washroom facilities from our camper. On our out West trip, we obviously used them while camping! Even if you don’t have a headlamp, a normal flashlight is always handy to have (especially if you are adventurous like us).
4) Portable Charger
We don’t really go anywhere without our Anker. The worst thing is being stuck somewhere and not being able to navigate back to home base. This is especially frustrating when you are traveling with public transportation and not in a vehicle that allows you to just plug in your phone to charge. No matter where we travel, these are always on the packing list because they have saved us from being stuck in places more times than we can count. Need an Uber? Your phone needs a charge. Need to rent an e-bike? Your phone needs a charge. Need to use google maps? Your phone needs a charge. Oh, what a life to depend on a phone to get places. Needless to say, these have worked for city travel, camping, backpacking, hiking, and even everyday life.
5) Travel Laundry Bag
This is something that we forgot to bring along with on the last trip and we regretted it. Our last vacation was 3 weeks long and because we pack light, we had to do laundry during our trip. This vacation consisted of some sweaty hikes, swimming in hot springs, and a whole lot of showering. Needless to say, we had some smelly clothes and desperately needed to wash our towels. The problem was that we had nowhere to put our stinky clothes so having this laundry bag would have been really nice - especially for transporting them to the laundromat.
We hope these travel accessories help you in your travel(s) and/or travel planning. They have always been useful on our trips and will continue to be packing “staples” for us.
